Akshay KumarGurkha was announced last year. Recently there are reports that the film has been shelved. The film was based on the life of Major General Ian Cardozo, a legendary officer of the Gorkha Regiment of the Indian Army (5th Gorkha Rifles). Akshay was to essay the role of an Indian Army veteran who fought in the wars of 1962, 1965, and most notably the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. National Award-winning filmmaker Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan was attached to direct the film. Aanand L Rai is producing through his banner Color Yellow Productions. Gurkhas retreated

Gurkha was announced in October 2021. After the announcement of the film, there was no update regarding the war film. A recent report claimed that the project with Akshay Kumar will not go ahead. Speculations were rife that all is not well between producer Aanand L Rai and Akshay Kumar, who previously collaborated on Atrangi Re and Raksha Bandhan. Now, Rai has clarified such rumors and shared where the project is headed.

Aanand L Rai on Gurkha

As per a report in Bollywood Hungama, Aanand L Rai has confirmed that Gurkha will no longer go ahead. He cited ‘technical issues’ as the reason for the postponement of the project. He also said that Akshay did not walk out of the film. They also said that they have mutually agreed to put the project on hold until the factual ambiguities are removed.

Akshay will be seen in the upcoming film Selfie and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. He is also featured in the biopic of mining engineer Jaswant Singh Gill. He is also playing the role of Shivaji Maharaj in the Marathi film Vedat Marathe Veer Daudle Saat.
