Anushka Sharma on cameo in Tripti Dimri-Babil Khan’s Kala: Enjoyed playing yesteryear actress

Anushka SharmaTripti, who was recently seen in a cameo in Dimri-Babil Khan’s ‘Kala’, says she enjoyed playing a black-and-white era actor in the latest Netflix film. Anushka surprised many with her special appearance in Kala’s song “Ghode Pe Sawar”, composed by her brother Karnesh Sharma. The track is sung by Sireesha Bhagwatula, written by Amitabh Bhattacharya and composed by Amit Trivedi.

The actor, whose last big screen release was 2018’s “Zero”, said he is enthused by the audience’s response to his role in the Hindi-language period psychological drama. She said, “I did this song just for the fun of it. There is no other reason and I enjoyed doing it. I enjoyed playing the role of a yesteryear actress and I am looking forward to people’s reactions to my special appearance.” Really glad to see you. I wasn’t.” Hope people like it a lot, but I am happy that they have seen me on screen after a while and are happy.”

Directed by Anvita Dutt, “Kala” is the story of Kala Manjushree (Tripti Dimri), a young playback singer in 1930s and 40s India. It also stars Swastika Mukherjee, Babil Khan, Amit Sial, Girija Oak and Sameer Kochhar.

Anushka had earlier backed Anvita’s directorial debut “Bulbul”, which also starred Tripti and was released on the streamer in 2020.
