In a statement posted on the fan community forum Weavers, the band’s management company BigHit Music said that Septet hopes to reunite as a single entity around 2025 following their service commitment.

The company said it was also the “right time” to fulfill its duty to the country after the October 15 concert ended in support of South Korea’s bid to host the 2030 World Expo in Busan.

“BIGHIT MUSIC is proud to announce today that members of BTS are currently moving forward with plans to complete their military service. Unprecedented concert to support Busan’s bid for World Expo 2030 After, and as each individual embarks on solo efforts, this is the right time and BTS members are honored to serve,” the agency shared in its statement.

In South Korea, all able-bodied men are required to serve in the military for approximately two years.

Due to their popularity and cultural influence, compulsory military service for BTS has long been a major debate in South Korea. In their previous interviews and media interactions, members of the group have stated that “they will accept the call of duty when the nation calls upon them”.

Jin, who turns 30 in December, will begin formalities after completing his solo album release commitments.

“Group member Jin will begin the process for his single release at the end of October after the schedule ends. He will follow the Korean government’s recruitment process,” BigHit Music said.

According to the company, the other members — RM, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook — plan to perform their military service based on their individual plans.
