BTS RM aka Kim Namjoon finally announced her solo album on Thursday. RM, the leader of the biggest Kpop band BTS, excited fans when he indicated that his solo project would be released sooner rather than later. Now, they have unveiled the first teaser of the album titled ‘Indigo’ and treated ARMY with the release date. RM is the third BTS member after Zhop and Jin to release his solo album. The other members—Jimin, Jungkook, Kim Taehyung aka V and Suga—are expected to follow suit next year.
On Thursday, BTS RM announced their solo album Indigo on Instagram and Weavers. He did this even before an official statement from BigHit Entertainment. Sharing a ‘mood cut’ on Instagram, he wrote, “‘Indigo’ RM first solo album, 12/2.” The rapper revealed that the album will release on December 2 at 2 PM KST (10:30 AM IST).
That being said, the album “tells the stories and experiences RM went through like a diary”.
Announcing the album on HYBE’s social media platform, RM wrote, “Hello. Finally. Because of you, my first album is coming out. I worked hard for four years. This is very different from my previous work and Lots of fun friends. Involved. Please support us until December 2nd.” (as translated by fans)
BigHit also released a statement, saying, “RM has already given fans an honest look into his world through two mixtapes. Through ‘Indigo’, RM expresses his candid thoughts and feelings.” and performs extensive music in collaboration with various artists.”
While ‘Indigo’ is RM’s first solo album, he has previously released two mixtapes. 2015’s ‘RM’ and 2018’s ‘Mono’. During Live on Weavers, the rapper said, “If the Mono album was about me as a 25-year-old, it would be about me as a 29-year-old.”
Kim Namjoon also revealed that she worked diligently on the album for four years from 2019 to 2022. The album will also feature collaborations with various artists and fans are excited to see who will be joining RM. While it has already been confirmed that he is collaborating with Pharrell, it has also been reported that RM has collaborated with rock group Cherry Filter.
Meanwhile, BTS, which debuted in 2013, is currently on a break as an entity, with each member pursuing solo projects. He announced his ‘hiatus’ in June this year. Soon he would start enlisting in the army after releasing his solo projects.
