George Clooney Reveals He Was Turned Down $35 Million (Rs 280 Crore) For A Day’s Work, Here’s Why

hollywood star George Clooney Once turned down an offer of $35 million (about Rs 280 crore at current exchange rates) for a day’s work promoting an airline brand. Recently at a media event when Bollywood star Anil Kapoor asked the Gravity actor about it, Clooney said that his reputation was more important than money.

He said that people pay a lot of money to whitewash things and he didn’t want to associate himself with brands and campaigns that he considered morally questionable. He said at the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit 2022, “Yeah, you know what, I had a conversation about it and the main conversation was are you going to pay… there’s a reason people want to pay A lot of money and usually it is for whitewashing. There were some wonderful people who were jailed in Saudi Arabia for saying something about women’s rights. And these people were taking money from these people. And it was taking millions of dollars to whitewash it. And I think that’s hard to do.”

Clooney said he had talks with his wife, human rights lawyer Amal Clooney, about taking a job and giving money to charity, but they decided against it. “And I find it hard to use my reputation and take that money to clean myself up when your employer is someone who is ruining people’s civil and human rights as well. I think That my reputation is better than this,” he said.

Earlier, speaking with the Guardian on the same topic, Clooney said, “I was offered $35 million for a day’s work for an airline ad, but I talked to Amal about it and we Decided it wasn’t worth it. It was with a country, although it is an ally, sometimes suspicious, and so I thought: ‘Well, if it takes a minute’s sleep from me, it’s not worth it’.

The 61-year-old actor was last seen in the romantic comedy Ticket to Paradise, which was a commercial success despite receiving moderate reviews. He is currently working on his directorial venture The Boys in the Boat, which is based on the non-fiction of the same name. Actors Callum Turner and Joel Edgerton are part of the upcoming project.
