
IIFA 2023 Nominations: The nominations for the 23rd edition of the International Indian Film Academy and Awards, popularly known as IIFA, were announced on Monday. ‘Brahmastra Part One: Shiva’, ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’, ‘Darlings’ and others are leading with ten, five and five nominations respectively. ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’, ‘Darlings’, ‘Drishyam 2’, ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ and ‘Vikram Vedha’ have made it to the nomination list in the Best Picture category.
Top picks for the Direction category include ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’, ‘Brahmastra Part One: Shiva’, ‘Darlings’, ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’, ‘Monica O My Darling’ and ‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’. Nominees for Performance in a Leading Role (Female) Yami Gautam Dhar for ‘A Thursday’, Tabu for ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’, Alia Bhatt For ‘Darlings’, Shefali Shah again for ‘Darlings’ and Alia Bhatt for ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’.
Karthik Aryan (‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’), Abhishek Bacchan (‘Dasvi’), Ajay Devgan (‘Drishyam 2’), Raj Kumar Rao (“Monica O My Darling”), Anupam Kher (“The Kashmir Files”) and Hrithik Roshan (“Vikram Vedha”) are nominated for Performance in a Leading Role (Male).
Nominations for Performance in a Supporting Role (Female) are Sheeba Chadha (“Badhaai Do”), Mouni Roy (“Brahmastra Part One: Shiva”), Nimrat Kaur (“Daasvi”), Tabu (“Drishyam 2”) and Radhika. Apte (‘Monica O My Darling’).
Abhishek Banerjee is nominated for ‘Bhediya’ in the Performance in a Supporting Role (Male) category. Shahrukh Khan Vijay Raaz for ‘Brahmastra Part One: Shiva’, for ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’, Anil Kapoor for ‘Jugjag Jeeyo’ and Sikandar Kher for ‘Monica O My Darling’.
Pritam (‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ and ‘Brahmastra Part One: Shiva’), Sanjay Leela Bhansali (‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’), Oof and Savera (‘Gehraiyaan’), Tanishk Bagchi, Pozzi (‘Niranjan Dhar’), Kanishk Seth and Vishal Shelke (‘Jugjag Jio’) has bagged a nomination for music direction.
Jonita Gandhi for the song ‘Deva Deva’ (‘Brahmastra Part One: Shiva’), Shreya Ghoshal for ‘Rasia’ (‘Brahmastra Part One: Shiva’), ‘Jab Saiyan’ (Gangubai Kathiawadi), Lothika ‘Dube’ ( ‘Gahniyan’) and Kavita Seth for ‘Rangi Saree’ – Traditional/Folk Song (‘Jugjug Jeeyo’) are in the running for Playback Singer (Female) category.
Arijit Singh is nominated for Playback Singer (Male) for ‘Kesariya’ and ‘Dev Deva’ (from ‘Brahmastra Part One: Shiva’). Mohit Chauhan Kanishk Seth for ‘Gehraiyaan’ (reprise), Kanishk Seth for ‘Rangi Saree’ – Traditional/Folk song (‘Jugjug Jeeyo’) and Aditya Rao for ‘Behni Do’ (‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’)
Apart from this, Akshat Ghildiyal and Suman Adhikari for ‘Badhaai Do’ for Best Story (Original), Ayan Mukerji for ‘Brahmastra Part One: Shiva’, R.K. Balki, Jasmeet K. for ‘Chup’. Reen and Parvez Shaikh are nominated. Darlings’ and Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri for ‘The Kashmir Files’.
Aamil Keyan Khan and Abhishek Pathak for ‘Drishyam 2’ for Best Story (Adapted), S.K. Hussain Zaidi and Jane Borges, Yogesh Chandekar for ‘Monica O My Darling’, R. Madhavan for ‘Rocketry’ are nominated. : Nambi Effect’ and Pushkar-Gayatri and BA Fida for ‘Vikram Vedha’.
For Lyrics Varun Grover to sing ‘Atak Gaya Hai’ (‘Badhaai Do’), Amitabh Bhattacharya to sing ‘Kesariya’ (‘Brahmastra Part One: Shiva’), AM Turaz to sing ‘Jab Saiyaan’ Has been nominated. ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’), Ankur Tiwari for the song ‘Gehraiyaan’ (‘Deep’) and Raj Shekhar for the song ‘Behni Do’ (‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’).
Global voting will go live on Tuesday, December 27, 2022. The 23rd edition of IIFA will be held on February 9, 10 and 11, 2023 at Yas Island, Abu Dhabi.
