Kantara closing box office: Rishabh Shetty’s film becomes second biggest Sandalwood film after KGF 2

Kantara Box Office Finale: Rishabh Shetty’s Kannada blockbuster remains unbeaten at the ticket window. The film which successfully completed its eleventh week saw a decline in the ninth week post its OTT release. Kantara set four weekly records at the Indian box office. The film, which released across the cinema halls on September 30, 2022, has almost reached its final collections worldwide. Written, directed and produced by Rishab Shetty, the film also released in Hindi two weeks later and has so far managed to earn over Rs 361 at the Indian box-office.

In addition, Kantara created history by becoming the highest-grossing film of all time in Karnataka, surpassing KGF Chapter 2. The film is the second biggest Sandalwood film of all time, just after KGF 2.

Rishabh Shetty on Kantara’s BO success

According to the Kantara actor, films today are crossing the language barrier. He said that Indian cinema is presented in different languages ​​and if the content connects with the audience, the film will be accepted as a pan-India film. Rishabh Shetty believed in the mantra that if a film is more local and rooted, it has more universal appeal, news agency ANI said.

He said that in the late 90s, regional cinema was influenced by western films. However, today they are incorporating local culture and diversity giving them the much needed vibrancy and vibrancy which has been accepted by the audience. To support his views, he said that the reason why people across India have accepted Kantara despite the language barrier is because the audience can connect well with the content.

About Kantara

Kantara has emerged as one of the most profitable films of 2022 in terms of return on investment. Made on a relatively low budget of around Rs 16 crore, the film revolving around obscure customs, traditions and local folklore is becoming a hit outside Karnataka as well. Helmed by Rishabh, the film was released on 30 September and opened to an overwhelming response from the audience for its storyline and amazing visuals. Set in the fictional village of Dakshina Kannada, Kantara follows the character of Rishabh, playing a Kambala champion, who has an encounter with an upright forest range officer.
