We lost many celebrities this year which left a void in our hearts. These were the talents which are born maybe once or twice in a century like Lata Mangeshkar, Bappi Lahiri, KK etc. So, as 2022 comes to an end and we move towards 2023, let’s take a look at some of the celebrities who passed away this year.
Lata Mangeshkar
India’s niggle poof, Lata Mangeshkar passed away due to Multiple Organ Dysfunction Syndrome on February 6, 2022 at Breach Candy Hospital Trust, Mumbai. She was 92 years old. She was on routine treatment for pneumonia and Covid-19 since 28 days. His death was a huge blow to the music industry. He sang in popular films like Silsila, Faasle, Vijay and Chandni.
Bappi Lahiri
Another big loss to the music industry, Disco King of Bollywood Bappi Lahiri passed away due to OSA (Obstructive Sleep Apnea) on February 15, 2022 in Mumbai. He was recognized by the Guinness World Records in 1986 for recording more than 180 songs in a year. Not only in Bollywood, she had given huge box office hits in Bengali, Telugu and Kannada films.
KK (Krishnakumar Kunnat)
KK, or Krishnakumar Kunnat, was a prominent Indian playback singer. He was performing in a live concert on May 31, 2022 at Nazrul Manch Auditorium in South Kolkata where he suffered a heart attack and left us all. He sang Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi film songs in his illustrious music career.
Sidhu Moosewala
Punjabi rapper, singer and lyricist Sidhu Musewala left for his heavenly abode on May 29, 2022. He was shot dead at Jawaharke in Mansa district of Punjab. He was in his car when the assailants stopped him and fired more than 30 bullets at him.
Raju Srivastava
Indian comedian, actor and politician Raju Srivastava passed away on September 21, 2022 at the age of 58 in New Delhi. He suffered a heart attack during treatment. The comedian was rushed to the hospital after he collapsed while working out in the gym. He remained in the hospital for more than a month and then succumbed to the disease.
Pandit Birju Maharaj
Pandit Birju Maharaj was an Indian Kathak dancer, musician and singer, who was a member of the Lucknow ‘Kalka-Bindadin’ gharana. He was 83 when his health suddenly took a turn and the veteran passed away on January 17, 2022.
Sandhya Mukherjee
Renowned Bengali semi-classical singer Sandhya Mukherjee, who worked with prominent music directors like S D Burman, Naushad and Salil Chowdhary, passed away on February 15 following a heart attack, leaving millions of grieving fans of all ages across the border. Left behind
Arun Bali
Veteran actor Arun Bali passed away at the age of 79 on October 7 in Mumbai. He made his TV debut in the year 1989 with Doosra Keval. He is known for his roles in films like ‘3 Idiots’, ‘Kedarnath’, ‘Panipat’ among many others. Actor was last seen Aamir Khan-Kareena Kapoor Strict Lal Singh Chadha. He played the co-passenger of Aamir’s titular character on the train.
