Farhan Akhtar’s directorial venture, “Jee Le Zara” starring. Priyanka Chopra, Katrina KaifAnd Alia Bhatt, has been making waves since the announcement. The film explores and celebrates the friendship between three girls who are on a road trip. While fans are waiting for updates on the film, Priyanka Chopra has finally opened up about it. Desi Girl, who returned to India after three years, revealed that it was she who initially thought of a female-oriented film like Jee Le Zara. The actress says she has spent a lot of time playing second roles in her two decades in films and hopes her much-awaited film “Jee Le Zara” will help female actors create more agency in their lives.

Talking to PTI, the Dostana actress said, “I have spent a long time in my career where we have always been secondary to men. The protagonists decide where the film is shot, who gets cast and what. Happening. It’s boring. We are living in a time where women should be able to have agency in their lives.”

The germ of “Jee Le Zara”, directed by actor-filmmaker Farhan Akhtar, took root in Priyanka’s mind and was followed by a long telephone conversation with her friends Katrina and Alia.

“I called Alia and Katrina, it was only a matter of time before Farhan or anyone came. I called the girls first. I was sitting at home and I wanted to do a Hindi film. But I wanted it on terms. Ho. women,” she added.

Produced by Farhan and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment and Tiger Baby led by Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti, the shooting of the film will begin sometime next year.

Priyanka believes that women artists of her generation have paved the way for up-and-coming women artistes to headline empowering stories.

“The actresses of my generation really opened the door for the next generation of actresses to be the faces on the posters, to be able to sell movies. So, I really wanted to bring my friends together and say I hope to make a film that will do well at the box office and it will be ours… So, the stars aligned and we decided to do it. Hopefully we start shooting for it next year.”
