RRR: SS Rajamouli Wins Best Director Award At New York Film Critics Circle; Video of crowd cheering is going viral

RRR: It’s been almost ten months since SS Rajamouli’s historical drama released, and yet the response around it remains overwhelming. After breaking several box office records and bagging several major awards, SS Rajamouli yet again managed to stand up to a thunderous applause as he was honored as the Best Director at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards 2022 . In a new video that is going viral, the filmmaker can be seen receiving the award while the audience applauds loudly for him.

After accepting the award, Rajamouli expressed his gratitude and thanked the jury and the audience for supporting his film. He said, “You got a lot of people’s attention on a small film in the south of India. It was pure joy of awe, as we have just seen. I want my audience to feel that.” The filmmaker also thanked his family for their continued support.

After this, RRR is also eyeing Oscar 2023. The song Naatu Naatu from the Ram Charan and Jr NTR starrer has been selected in the best song category. Even though RRR was not a part of India’s official entry to the Oscars, it was submitted separately under the ‘For Your Consideration’ campaign for 14 categories.

In a statement shared on the official Twitter page of RRR, the makers said, “Here it is… #NaatuNaatu becomes the first Indian song to be selected for the Academy Awards. Thank you all for supporting us throughout our journey.” Thank you.”

Also RRR starring Jr NTR, Ram Charan, Alia Bhatt And Ajay Devgn gets another Golden Globe nomination for Best Non-English Language Film. In addition, it has four more Critics’ Choice Award nominations – Best Picture, Best Foreign Language Film, Best Director and Best Visual Effects.
