Salaam Venky Box Office Collection: After much anticipation, KajolThe family drama with its plot failed to live up to the expectations of the movie watchers. Starring Vishal Jethwa, the film opened to overwhelmingly positive reviews this week. However, it did not translate into box office numbers as it failed to pull the audience to the theatres. Salaam Venky, played by Revathi, struggles to do any business at the ticket window. According to trade reports, it is believed that Salaam Venky can do better in the coming days with positive word of mouth.

Salaam Venky is facing stiff competition from Ajay Devgn, Tabu and Akshaye Khanna starrer Drishyam 2 as well as films like Ayushmann Khurrana’s N Action Hero and Varun Dhawan starrer Bhediya. However, the Revathi directorial is doing far better at the box office than its other two releases, Vaadh and Maareech.

In Salaam Venky, Kajol is playing the role of a sick boy’s mother. Directed by actress-director Revathi, the film tells the heartwarming story of a mother-son duo as they face challenges in life. It is based on the theme of making the most out of life and includes the mythological dialogue “Zindagi laambi nahi, badi honi chahiye, Babumoshai”. Amitabh Bachchan and the film ‘Anand’ starring Rajesh Khanna.

It sees Vishal in a wheelchair-bound character who instead of being negative about his life takes everything in his stride. Salaam Venky touches upon the subject of ‘euthanasia’, which means the act of intentionally ending a person’s life to end their suffering.

The film also features cameos by Rajeev Khandelwal, Rahul Bose, Prakash Raj and Aamir Khan. Presented by Connect Media and produced by Suraj Singh, Shraddha Aggarwal and Varsha Kukreja under the banner of Blive Productions and RTKE Studios, ‘Salaam Venky’ is based on the novel The Last Hurray by Shrikant Murthy.
