Samantha Ruth Prabhu is gearing up for the release of her upcoming film Shakuntalam. The mythological drama is all set to release on 17 February. Samantha is one of the best actors in the country, and she never ceases to amaze with her abilities and dedication. The actress underwent a lot of training to prepare for her role in Shakuntalam. To master the classical gestures, she attended seminars under renowned performing arts expert Mrs. Aruna Bikshoo. He did everything in his power to embody the character.

As per a report in Pinkvilla, “Samantha has undergone 3 months of intensive training to master the classical gestures, graceful movements and character nature of Shakuntalaam. She trained under renowned performing arts expert Aruna Bikshoo and also did workshops with him.” Samantha also gave it her own spin to make it more relatable to Millennials while maintaining the standards of the mythology.”

The report further added, “In the peak Covid situation, Samantha stood as a pillar during the filming of Shakuntalam. Known to be a perfectionist, she shot even during the peak second wave of Covid, so that the filming was smooth.” There should be no delay and shooting in the same, big sets have not stopped.

Based on Kalidasa’s acclaimed Sanskrit play Abhigyana Shakuntalam, the film is written and directed by award-winning director Gunasekhara (Rudramadevi) and produced by Neelima Guna and Dil Raju under the banners of Gunna Teamworks and Dil Raju Productions respectively. The film also featured Dev Mohan as King Dushyant of the Puru dynasty. ‘Shakuntalam’ revolves around the epic love story of Shakuntala and King Dushyant, portrayed by Samantha and Dev Mohan of Sufiyum Sujatayum fame, respectively. It will release in Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada.

The film was earlier scheduled to release on November 4 last year, but got delayed during post-production as the film was converted to 3D format. The film also stars Mohan Babu, Aditi Balan, Prakash Raj, Gautami, Madhu, Jisshu Sengupta and Kabir Bedi.
