The official page of RRR’s Twitter handle also shared the news, “@SSRajamouli wins the prestigious New York Film Critics Circle Award for Best Director! @NYFCC Words cannot do justice to describe how happy and proud we are… Thank you jury for recognizing our heartfelt #RRRMovie.” Actor Jr NTR congratulated Rajamouli on Twitter and said the filmmaker’s win at NYFCC is the beginning of his “journey to worldwide glory”. He said, “It’s time for the world to know what I knew about you.”

The cast and crew of RRR will be honored with the trophy at the 6th HCA Film Awards, which will be held on February 24, 2023, in Los Angeles. Actor Angela Bassett and director Rian Johnson will also be honored that night. Last month, SS Rajamouli confirmed that he is expanding the RRR franchise. “My father is the story writer of all my films. We had a little discussion about RRR 2 and he is working on the story,” she said at an event in Chicago, as quoted by news agency ANI.

The film was released in March and grossed over Rs 1,200 crore at the global box office.
