
Veteran Punjabi actor Daljit Kaur passed away at the age of 69 in Ludhiana after prolonged illness. Reportedly, she was diagnosed with a neurological problem and moved from Mumbai to Ludhiana around 12 years ago. Kaur was known for playing lead roles in several superhit Punjabi films and in 2013, Diljit played Gippy Grewal’s mother in Singh VS Kaur.
Confirming the sad news of his demise, actress Neeru Bajwa wrote on Instagram, “Rip #daljitkaur ji.. you were an inspiration… very sad news. I am so grateful that I got the opportunity to work with you # legend in #Heerranjha.”
Reportedly, Daljit Kaur breathed her last in Raikot, Punjab on Thursday. Diljit Kaur, popularly known as ‘Hema Malini’ of the Punjabi film industry, worked in films like ‘Daaz’, ‘Gidda’, ‘Put Jattan De’, ‘Roop Shakinan Da’, ‘Ishq Nimana’, ‘Laajo’, ‘ was. Batwara’, ‘Vari Jat’, ‘Patola’, and Jagga Daku among others. She was also a player of Hockey and Kabaddi.
After learning about the unfortunate news, several celebrities took to social media to offer condolences. Singer Mika Singh tweeted, “Beautiful actress, legend of Punjab #DaljitKaur sadly left us with her beautiful memories. May her soul rest in peace and rest in peace.”
Dalljiet Kaur has done her graduation from Film and Television Institute of India. Actor Satish Shah was his batchmate. Remembering Dalljiet Kaur, Satish wrote on Twitter: “A dear friend and batchmate Dalljiet Kaur, a yesteryear Punjabi actress, passed away on 17th of this month. May her soul rest in peace. FTII 1976 batch.” The exact reason for Daljit Kaur’s death is yet to be ascertained.
