Directed by Hari-Harish, Yashoda is a thriller about an underground mafia that turns poor women into surrogate mothers for rich childless parents. Things escalate when Yashoda (Samantha) realizes the danger she finds herself in. Samantha does all the heavy lifting in the film – quite literally – which has received mixed reviews.
Manoj Kumar R indianexpress.com gave the film two stars and wrote, “Samantha Ruth Prabhu brings grace to the role. But, the grindhouse treatment of the film negates the impact of Samantha’s performance, which has a lot of conviction.”
Apart from Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Yashoda stars Varalakshmi Sarathkumar, Unni Mukundan and Sampath Raj in the lead roles. Mani Sharma composed the music for the film, which is produced by Shivlenka Krishna Prasad.
